Ezra and Nehemiah

Ezra was written about 538-516 B.C where Nehemiah was written around 444-425 B.C Therefore, the dates of writing are different and the statistical differences can easily be accounted for by considering that during the difference of years, people died, families grew, etc.

Cornfields

Matthew 12:1-8 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”

He answered, “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread—which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. Or haven’t you read in the Law that the priests on Sabbath duty in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are innocent? I tell you that something greater than the temple is here. If you had known what these words mean, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’[a] you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

The intertexture analysis of Matthew 12:18 revealed that hunger supersedes. protocol. Jesus suggested that what was permissible for David was also permissible for his disciples. In doing. so he implied that people’s needs took precedent over institutional rules.

16 books of the Bible – Bible Puzzle

I once made a remark about the hidden books of the Bible (merely by a fluke). It kept people looking so hard for the facts and for others it was a revelation. Some were in a jam, especially since the name of the books were not capitalised, but the truth finally struck home to numbers of readers. To others it was a real job. We want it to be a most fascinating few moments for you. Yes, there will be some really easy ones to spot. Others may require judges to help them. I will quickly admit it usually takes a minister to find one of them, and there will be loud lamentations when it is found. A little lady says she brews a cup of tea so she can concentrate better. See how well you can compete. Relax now. There really are sixteen names of books in this story.

30 books of the Bible – Bible Puzzle

There are 30 books of the Bible in this paragraph. Can you find them? This is a most remarkable puzzle. It was found by a gentleman in an airplane seat pocket on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping him occupied for hours. He enjoyed it so much, he passed it on to some friends. One friend from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his john boat. Another friend studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Taylor, a columnist friend, was so intrigued by it she mentioned it in her weekly newspaper column. Another friend judges the job of solving this puzzle so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot. That’s a fact. Some people, however, will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. Truthfully, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or a scholar to see some of them at the worst. Research has shown that something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have in seeing the books in this paragraph. During a recent fund raising event, which featured this puzzle, the Alpha Delta Phi lemonade booth set a new record. The local paper, The Chronicle, surveyed over 200 patrons who reported that this puzzle was one of the most difficult they had ever seen. As Daniel Humana humbly puts it, “The books are all right here in plain view hidden from sight.” Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown. One revelation that may help is that books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. Also, keep in mind, that punctuation and spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete really well against those who claim to know the answers. Remember, there is no need for a mad exodus. There really are 30 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph waiting to be found. God Bless.

Bible Corruption

The Dead Sea Scrolls have all of the books of the OLD Testament except for Esther and Nehemiah and we also know that the Bible was not corrupted when Mohammad was around.

Because

The Quran affirms that the Bible is the word of God.

Yes. You read that correctly. When one begins to examine the Quranic narrative, he or she will quickly come to discover that the Quran affirms the bible’s divine inspiration and inerrancy. Many Muslims, however, assert that such passages are referring to the “REAL” bible.

In other words, prior to its supposed corruption. Yet when we read the following verses, it becomes blatantly clear that “Allah” and his prophet considered the bible to be uncorrupted and inspired DURING THE TIME OF MUHAMMAD:

Surah 5:43: “But why do they come to thee for decision, WHEN THEY HAVE (THEIR OWN) TORAH BEFORE THEM? THEREIN IS THE (PLAIN) COMMAND OF ALLAH; yet even after that, they would turn away. For they are not (really) People of Faith.

Surah 5:46-47: “And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, CONFIRMING THE TORAH THAT CAME BEFORE HIM: We sent him the Gospel: THEREIN IS GUIDANCE AND LIGHT, and confirmation of the torah that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah. LET THE PEOPLE OF THE GOSPEL JUDGE BY WHAT ALLAH HATH REVEALED THEREIN. IF ANY DO FAIL TO JUDGE BY (THE LIGHT OF) WHAT ALLAH HATH REVEALED, THEY ARE (NO BETTER THAN) THOSE WHO REBEL.”

Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 38 (Kitab al Hudud, i.e. Prescribed Punishments), Number 4434: Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar: A group of Jews came and invited the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) to Quff. So he visited them in their school. They said: AbulQasim, one of our men has committed fornication with a woman; so pronounce judgment upon them. They placed a cushion for the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) who sat on it and said: Bring the Torah. It was then brought. HE THEN WITHDREW THE CUSHION FROM BENEATH HIM AND PLACED THE TORAH ON IT SAYING: I BELIEVED IN THEE AND IN HIM WHO REVEALED THEE.

Here are some things to note:

In surah 5:43, the Jews HAVE the Torah (Present tense). THEREIN IS Allah’s command.
In surah 5:46-47 it writes THEREIN IS GUIDANCE. Furthermore, Allah instructs us to JUDGE (Present tense) by the gospel.
Muhammad considered the Torah that existed in HIS time to be the word of God.

Now in light of the Islamic evidence, a segment of the Muslim community have conjured up a theory that the bible was corrupted AFTER Muhammad’s time. This is simply impossible, seeing as we have manuscripts of the bible which date back prior to and during Muhammad’s time.

In other words, we know exactly what the bible said during the commencement and launch of the Islamic religion:

The Chester Beatty Papyrus II: AD 100.
The John Rylands Manuscript: AD 130.
The Codex Vaticanus: AD 325- 350.
The Codex Sinaiticus: AD 375-400.
The Codex Washingtonianus: AD 450.

Since we know the Bible was not corrupted by referring to these ancient documents and papyri, we see that Islam is proven to be locked into a grave dilemma. If the bible was corrupted, then the Quran is false because it affirms its inerrancy and inspiration. But if the bible was NOT corrupted, the Quran STILL remains false because it blatantly contradicts the biblical narrative on virtually every significant point.

The Claim that the Bible is Corrupt because of Numerical Discrepancies

There are some Muslims who attempt to discredit the Bible on the basis of contradiction of numbers. They are quick to argue that if the Holy Bible is truly God’s Word, then it would contain no numerical errors because God is perfect. It is true: God is perfect. However, man is not. And though it was God who revealed the Scriptures in perfect fashion, it was the hand of man that copied the manuscripts from one generation to the next. And since man is imperfect, there are bound to be mistakes in his work. We call these mistakes copyist errors because they most likely were made during the laborious and tedious task of duplicating the scriptures for wider distribution. An example of this type of error are the following verses taken from the King James version of the Bible:

And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen.
II Samuel 8:4
And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen.
I Chronicles 18:4

It is clear that the first verse speaks of 700 horsemen, and the other 7000 horsemen — a difference of 6300. Such errors in the Old Testament can be found in other passages and are attributed to the fact that many of the Hebrew characters of numbers closely resembled one another. Thus it was easy to mistake one number for another during the process of copying. It was also easy to misplace a zero that could account for the difference between 7000 and 700. These errors are believed to have been nonexistent in the original scriptures. It is also important to point out to the Muslim that such errors do not affect the great doctrinal teachings of the scriptures. For example, a similar contradiction of numbers can be found in the Qur’an. Notice the following verses:

… in the end will (all affairs) go up to Him (God) on a Day, the space whereof will be (as) a thousand years of your reckoning.
Surat-us Sajda (32):5
The angels and the Spirit ascend unto Him (God) in a Day, the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years. Surat-ul Ma’arij (70):4

It appears that one verse speaks of a Day with God equivalent to one thousand years, whereas the other verse equates a Day to fifty thousand years. Yet, in no way does this detract from the Qur’anic teaching that God is merciful and compassionate, and ready to forgive at all times. In like manner, the difference of 6300 horsemen does not detract from the Biblical teaching that God has revealed His mercy and compassion through Jesus the Messiah in whom there is redemption and forgiveness of sins!

Blind Fools

Matthew 23:17: Did Jesus sin when he called people blind fools?

One of the verses in the Gospel, used by Muslims to deny Jesus’ divinity is the following one: You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? (Matthew 23:17). Was the statement of Jesus really a sin?

1. Jesus showed that people didnt follow the straight path

You blind fools means that Jesus wanted to put things in the right perspective by showing them they are sinners. From the context in Matthew, chapter 23, Jesus deals with the hypocrisy of the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees: Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! (Matthew 23:13) occurs
seven times in this chapter. Teachers of the law and Pharisees wanted to swear by the gold of the temple. Jesus explains in previous verses that only swearing by the gold of the temple is important. Because the gold is nothing without the temple, while the temple is from its origin holy and therefore is superior to the gold. The warning of Jesus was directed to people who didnt follow the straight path. 2. Statement was against immoral people. The teachers of the law and Pharisees were very strict and precise in some small cases of the Law, but careless and loose in many important cases. They were enemies to the Gospel of Christ, and therefore to the Gods salvation of the souls of men. [1- Matthew Henry Commentary Matthew 23:13-33]. It is not a little sin that Jesus condemns but the greater sin. While for many people the teachers of the law and Pharisees seem to be godly, in fact they were not righteous at all. Jesus warning was against the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees so that everybody may see through it. Their hearts were immoral and
their minds foolishly blinded with pleasure to please and satisfy themselves. Jesus showed the way of doing Gods will.

3. Conclusion

The remark about blind fools in Matthew 23:17 was against the Scribes and Pharisees who were enemies to the Gospel of God.
It is a general statement and therefore not a sin that Jesus made this statement.

Cannibalism

God made a prophecy that people will eat their children.
This horrific cannibalism described in Leviticus 26:29 was fulfilled in 2 Kings 6:26-29; Josephus also describes cannibalism in Jerusalem when under siege by the Romans; a woman killed and ate her own baby son.

So not a nonsense prophecy about what people will do which was fulfilled.
